Saturday's Garden Update

We now have the first of the two fences up along the front of the south garden. Here it is in process. The outer fence has 2' chicken wire half buried horizontally with regular ol' garden fence in front of that. We're not sure on if we'll do garden fence for the inner fence or if we'll put up deer netting.

Everything but the small strawberry boxes (behind these big boxes) is done on the south side garden. We'll get those done soon and get the posts sawed off. The boxes are almost all planted too. The tomatoes are all in, the melons are in, same for the peppers and zucchini that went in this week. The one thing missing from the main beds are the beans in the top bed.

The raspberries Dawn planted are starting to put out shoots. We still need to get the trellis system in place but we should have a few weeks before that's an issue.

Ben's family helped dig out this planting area up front last month and Dawn has been busy tweaking it and planting deer-resistant flowers and grasses. We had mulch delivered (in addition to the 9 yards from our chipping adventure) that we're been spreading. We trenched and buried soaker hose under the mulch too.

It feels good to be in the home stretch on so many of our projects. Still a lot to get done, but it's starting to look sane again.
