That's me planting peas! We're glad to finally be able to start some of the cool weather crops outdoors. Last week we got some asparagus in the backyard. We have both purple and green asparagus back in the herb garden. We are getting ready to fence in the "front right" garden (as we call it) so I thought it might be safe to plant. Now we just have to get the fence up before they sprout or the woodchuck living only feet away will eat them all!
This is the last bed to go for this garden area and we lined part of it with hardware cloth. This bed 12 feet long and divided into a 3 foot and 1 foot section across the length. In the one foot section we will plant flowers -- this will be facing the street so it will hopefully make the garden look nicer. In the three foot section we will add another set of boards to double the height and then plant potatoes.
Just an in progress shot. You can see there is now a bed in the back left corner. It is two boards deep so it can host potatoes at some point.
I left my garden hat lying in the yard and this bee decided to take a nap on it. The best part is that he is on a fabric flower that is stitched to the hat with matching fabric.
That's it for today. Hopefully we'll have shots of fence and sprouting veggies soon. I also planted different lettuces, a row of radishes, and some spinach. =)
